Geek Work Shirt

Geek Work ShirtOh boy, this is great. Most geeks are usually seen either in a Star Wars t-shirt or something that seems to take away from society’s view upon them as a man. On the other hand, whenever you see a guy in a gray-blue button up shirt with a name embroidered into it, most of us think “Now there’s a hard working man.” Well, here is the solution to that dilemma for the geek.

It’s the Geek Work Shirt. Only the hard core geeks really know what it’s like under the case of a beast of a computer, just like a garage mechanic knows what it’s like under the chassis of a ‘57 Chevy. So get the geek you love a shirt that will earn him some respect for the work he really does. Also, take a minute to read the description of the product at ThinkGeek, it blows mine away.

Magz Construction Sets

Now these things really caught my eye. Is there anybody out there who doesn’t love a good magnetic toy? For some reason, magnets are one of the most intriguing things for me to fidget with.

Now the write up on the site is somewhat confusing, but as I read through it, I kept wanting more and more! It starts out with a 56 piece set that has 36 rods and 20 balls. You may think that would be plenty, but no. Next is the 130 piece set for only a few bucks more, which is a killer deal. But wait, it gets better.

Next they throw the faceted Cuballs at you. What are those you ask? They are balls with six flat sides, so kind of a cube-ball combo, hence the clever name. Those allow you to build the cube shaped structures that are shown in the picture. So obviously, you have to get those. But hold on. Next comes the introduction of the Super Magz. They are bigger, stronger, and have even stronger magnetism, which they say allows you to build even better structures. Well that’s a no brainer, bigger and stronger is always better, right? Next is the sweet spot as I see it. The 247 piece set. It has 112 rods, 75 balls, and 60 cuballs. I think that’s the ticket right there. But wait, that doesn’t come with those cool X-shaped pieces. Blast it all!

So next is the Magz-X collection that comes with those pieces, but only 25 of them with 28 rods and 53 balls. So finally, there is the 280 piece set. It has the 70 X pieces, 70 bars, and 140 balls. I’m not sure if those come with the cuballs though. If you’re confused like me, they also provide an option to get all the packages in one order. With the Magz Super Special, you get the 247 piece set and the 280 piece set plus a wooden storage box! Well that one seems to be the easiest option, but it’s also the most expensive.

Don’t worry about all this. The website has a phone number and a contact email address to use to find out just what you’re ordering. All I do know is that whoever gets these for a gift will have a lot of magnetic fun times.

Boing Ball at MoMA Store

Boing Ball at MoMA StoreYet another thing to fidget with and throw at your neighbor. The Boing Ball changes color each time it gets squeezed. I don’t imagine they bounce too well, but they sure do look pretty cool.

The ball has all kinds of uses. You can throw it at your friends’ faces, use it to play red light/green light, scatter them around your room at night to set the mood, and the list goes on. There are a few settings for the changing of the ball’s color. You can have it steadily changing, change each time you squeeze the life out of it, or have it remain a constant color.

Imagine getting a gift with a few of these and a few Mushroom Lamps! That would be the brightest, most colorful box of swell gifts one could possibly receive. Now the picture up here shows some different sizes. I’m not sure what’s going on there, because there’s one size available, and that’s a ball with a three inch diameter. We can slowly light up the world with colorful gifts one by one!

Mini Golfing Mario & Luigi at ThinkGeek

Mini Golfing Mario & Luigi at ThinkGeekYet another time killer for cubicle bound folks. I don’t know why I love stuff like this so much. Wait, I think it’s because I’m a fantastic waster of time!

You can get both Mario and Luigi, who come tethered to an old NES style controller. I’m not sure what’s going on with the brown colors, perhaps they’re going for the golf khaki look. Only the A and B buttons do anything, the rest is just cosmetic. Each comes with a couple teeny tiny “golf” balls that will need divine intervention to not get lost in the first week of action. There’s even a tiny little range-quality hole thing that you can aim for. I can’t imagine this is easy, but hey, it looks like a great time waster.

Maybe if you know somebody who can’t get enough Mario golf on their Gamecube. You can help them practice while at work!

Climb@Tron R.E.X.

Climb@Tron R.E.X.This little dude will crawl anywhere there’s a smooth surface. It doesn’t matter if it’s vertical or horizontal, ceiling or floor. The little REX uses his suction cups to go up walls and upside down on ceilings.

I’d say it would make a great gift for someone who is stuck in an office all day. I’d love to see it in action. It’s pretty cheap, so who knows how well it works. I’m also not sure about how many people have walls that are smooth enough for this guy to climb on. I guess to test it out, you can get a normal suction cup and see if it sticks to your wall or ceiling. It probably only needs to stay there for a few seconds. I’ve got that textured stuff in this room, so I’m not sure it would work in here, but man it would be pretty cool to have a little robot thing just crawling all over the place.

Busted Tees Has Some Good Stuff

Busted Tees
For a quick and easy gift for a witty guy or girl you know, take a look at Busted Tees. There are plenty of t-shirt websites I’ve seen these days. I think Busted Tees has the best, and wittiest, selection.

Some of my favorites are Fantasy Football, The Second Amendment, and this one that has a picture of a football on it with the caption Soccer. Oh the cleverness!

Don’t be surprised if you end up buying a shirt or two for yourself as well. Most of the shirts will be a great conversation piece, or at least get you some pretty confused looks. Most of the shirts are relatively unoffensive, which is nice for a change. Check out the site by clicking the picture or the little link right below this here paragraph.
