Swoop the Poop

Swoop the PoopSince Vapoorize (from the movie Envy, which was terribly under rated) is fictional meaning there is no way to spray poo and make it magically vaporize, here’s a pretty good option. If you’re like me, picking up some dog droppings with just a plastic baggy protecting your hand is still pretty unsettling. The Swoop is for people like me who would prefer to clean up after their dog without ever coming into any kind of contact with the fecal remnants.

See, how it works is, you pop the cap off of the bottom, put one of the plastic baggies over the end, then push the top part down and out comes the yellow claws. They will expand the bag, and as you pull the top part back up, the claws close up around the mess, collecting it into the bag and storing it until you can deposit the mess in a rubbish bin (I like how people outside the USA call it a rubbish bin). I’m not exactly sure of the minute details of it, but it seems like a pretty good idea. It kind of looks like a thermos or something, it may strike up some good conversation with fellow dog walkers.

USB Pet ID with KoogaPet

KoogaPetTime to get the animals involved here. This is the first official pet gift idea post on The Gift Idea Blog. Exciting stuff!

So what in the world is this KoogaPet thing? It’s a very small, high tech, collar ID. It’s a small USB drive that stores any information in a PDF file. When the pet owners get the Koogatag and pop it into their computer, it will have forms for them to fill out about their pet. Things like diet, medical history, and your contact information. It appears as though the owner has the option of whether to share their contact information through the USB tag, or just keep it registered with KoogaPet. This comes in handy when the finder of the roaming pet notices the tag, pops it in their computer or calls the number on the tag. What happens then is KoogaPet gets notified of your pet being found, and will contact you to let you in on the situation.

It all sounds pretty slick. This seems to be a great way to help pet owners worry less about a pet that may like to explore more than their owners would prefer. If you know a pet owner and want them to feel more secure, give this a shot as a gift.

Help people find their lost pets with a Koogatag.
