Playstation 4

Playstation 4I’m a bit of a casual gamer, and I appreciate how a little fake life can help take stress away from real life now and then. Word on the streets, and from some friends of mine, is that the Sony Playstation 4 is pretty awesome. That means it would make a perfect gift!

Now, I know you can buy them all over the place, but if you’re reading this, you have the link right in front of you to buy one with two controllers! That’s right, two people can play at the same time! It’s kind of ridiculous that they don’t just sell two controllers at the standard price, don’t you think? I mostly play solo video games, but even then, I have one charging while I’m discharging the other one, it’s a lovely system.

So, go ahead, buy one for yourself, or daughter, son, nephew, niece, Dad (Father’s Day is coming up soon), Mom, pal, boss, or anybody!

Radioactive Elements Glowing Coaster Set

Radioactive Elements Glowing Coaster SetThese coasters light up when a drink is set down on them! Since they are from, naturally, they are all labeled as radioactive elements. Here is the list of those elements:

  • Radium-226 (Red)
  • Plutonium-244 (Blue)
  • Uranium-238 (Green)
  • Thorium-232 (Orange)

They look pretty cool. I haven’t seen them in person, but I really want some! Right now, for coasters, I just use some old hard drives I took from some of my old computers, which look cool, but not this cool! I just said cool a lot. Also cool, the batteries are included!

This video alone made me want to buy them. It’s so great. If you love the song as much as I do, you’ll want to click this here link:

South Park: The Stick of Truth

South Park: The Stick of TruthWow, what a game! The years of hard work that the creators of South Park have put into this game are clearly evident. Matt Stone and Trey Parker were determined to create a game that looks exactly like the TV show. They nailed it.

South Park: The Stick of Truth is a nice little role playing game. You fight enemies using weapons you’ve found or bought and skills you’ve learned through the course of the game. Other than that, this game is so different than any other I’ve played, because it had me laughing myself to tears every few minutes I played it. It’s the funniest game I’ve ever played, by a long shot.

If you know anybody who is remotely into video games and South Park, this is a great gift for them! I just finished my first play through of it, and I’m sure I’ll get through it at least a couple more times, just in this year alone.

So come on down to South Park and meet some friends of mine.

Giant Minecraft Foam Creeper

Giant Minecraft Foam CreeperThe sun’s about to go down and you should be heading back home, but you need three more birch woods to make a stack! Chopping furiously, your iron axe breaks. The only thing left to do is use your shovel or go at it kung fu style.

Punching furiously, the sun has all but a few pixels below the horizon and you can hear the spiders and zombies coming out. It’s time to make a break for it. Only a few dozen yards out you can see the square patch of torches illuminating the night, casting silhouettes of shambling creatures prowling the edges of your fence. There’s no way you can get past them without taking damage and all that tree cutting has left you hungry.

Thankfully, there’s a mine that you connected your house that’s just behind a nearby hill. Wait! What’s that? “SsSsssSsSS…” It’s too late; you don’t even bother moving. Respawn or Exit to Title Screen?

Product Specifications Foam Creeper for fans of Minecraft Made of EVA foam As much articulation as an 8-bit Creeper could and should have Frighteningly huge and detailed Invented at ThinkGeek! Officially licensed Minecraft collectible Dimensions: 2 feet tall!

BuckyBalls Magnetic Building Spheres

BuckyBalls Magnetic Building SpheresNow this is quite possibly the coolest thing I’ve ever posted about here on the good old gift idea blog that this is. Who doesn’t love magnets? I love those things! Here, you get 216 tiny spheres of magnetic fun!

These things look like so much fun. I have yet to get mine (you’d better believe I’m getting some for myself), but I can’t wait for the endless fun they’ll provide. You can magically make all kinds of well structured…structures with these little things. If you don’t believe me, or just want to get super excited about getting some of these for you and all of your friends, check out this little demonstration video:

Tuttuki Bako Virtual Finger Game

Tuttuki Bako Virtual Finger GameHere’s a weird one for ya! This little box has different digital characters who live inside. You get to stick your gigantic (in proportion to them) finger in a hole on the side of the box and mess with the little creatures! Why not?

Being one of the weirdest things I’ve posted on this blog, I feel it appropriate to include a little video demonstration of said weirdness. Here’s a little clip of this Virtual Finger Game I found on YouTube.

The clip starts out with a tiny stick man being terrorized by the huge finger. Then at the push of a real button on the housing of the box, a menu appears. That menu, apparently, cycles through the characters with the touch of a digital button. The finger goes on to play with a blob and then an adorable panda who is clinging onto a tire swing. Just precious. Bonus: The song is mesmerizing.

Princess Leia Poster

Princess Leia PosterThe classic Princess Leia poster. For all Star Wars fans, and anybody who appreciates good old beauty…circa 1970’s George Lucas future style…or something.

You really can’t go wrong getting this poster for any guy who is into Star Wars, or movies, or just plain old interested in attractive women! Carrie Fisher was at her best as Princess Leia, and there really isn’t a whole lot more to say about it. If you don’t know who Princess Leia is, I’m sorry, you’ve obviously been in seclusion for a few decades. Welcome to the world, go watch Star Wars.

The poster measures 36″ x 24″ and will put a smile on the face of a cubicle slave every day. I categorized this as “Tech Stuff” because any techie will appreciate Leia watching him do his thing.

Put Leia on some lucky guy’s wall here.

Supersize Earbud Speakers

Supersize Earbud SpeakersGive somebody a gift that looks like you stole from a giant! These gigantic ipod-style earbud speakers are claimed to be 500 times the size of the headphones that come with ipods. 500 times!

The speakers connect to the non-giant’s computer via USB cable and have their own built-in amplifier. There’s no fancy stand or anything, but they will lay there on a desk looking great. Sure to start up a conversation anytime somebody glances at them for the first time.

So if you know a mac lover who would love to have their earbuds in all day, but can’t due to work regulations, get them the oversized earbuds so they can get their fix.

Get the huge earbuds here.

MoPod Phone Charms

MoPod Phone CharmsTime to give your phone a friend…or maybe somebody else’s phone! These little dudes are kind of cool. As you can see in the little picture there, the MoPod critters start spinning when they are within a meter of a phone receiving a call or text message.

I’m not sure how they work, but if this is hung on the outside of your bag, and your phone is left on silent, this little guy will help you see the call coming in. How handy! There are at least 7 of these guys to choose from, including a penguin and a monkey!

Spin a phone critter here.

Amazon Kindle

Amazon KindleThis is a new product from Amazon called the Kindle. It’s a portable reader basically, but it’s oh so much more.

The Kindle has wireless connectivity similar to a cell phone, only you don’t need the contract and service agreement to make it work. The display actually uses ink and is called Electronic Paper. So that means that your eyes will feel like they are reading paper instead of an electronic screen, and the best part is that you can read it in the daylight with no problem. It claims to reflect light just like paper, awesome.

You can download books, newspapers, and blogs to the Kindle and store them on it so you can read them anytime. It has a bookmark system so it will remember where you left off in your reading last time you finished. All in all, if you know a book reader who travels frequently, this could be the best gift they ever receive. Even somebody who just loves a good book will enjoy the Kindle. The book download feature sounds great, of course the books aren’t free, but you can get them almost as soon as you think you’d like to read that book…pretty sweet.

Have You Heard of this iPod Thing?

iPods at
Okay, so I got a little lazy for today’s post. I haven’t blogged about an iPod yet, so here it is.

I got a new iPod Classic recently because my old 2nd generation one died on me. I really like it. I’m no Apple user, but I’ve got to say, they make a pretty good little media player. Now they’ve got the Nano, Classic, and Touch models from which to choose. I’ve got the 80 gig Classic in black. It’s been great for traveling and even for showing friends videos at times where I didn’t want to take the time to get the video on the TV or computer.

I really don’t think I need to talk the iPod up any more, as most people know what they are. So with that, I’ll throw the link down there and be done with it!

Geek Work Shirt

Geek Work ShirtOh boy, this is great. Most geeks are usually seen either in a Star Wars t-shirt or something that seems to take away from society’s view upon them as a man. On the other hand, whenever you see a guy in a gray-blue button up shirt with a name embroidered into it, most of us think “Now there’s a hard working man.” Well, here is the solution to that dilemma for the geek.

It’s the Geek Work Shirt. Only the hard core geeks really know what it’s like under the case of a beast of a computer, just like a garage mechanic knows what it’s like under the chassis of a ’57 Chevy. So get the geek you love a shirt that will earn him some respect for the work he really does. Also, take a minute to read the description of the product at ThinkGeek, it blows mine away.

Bluetooth Retro Handset at ThinkGeek

Here’s a gift that I have received before, and I must tell you, it was one of the greatest gifts I’ve got in a good while. It’s a Bluetooth handset that looks like a toy. It’s a great way to make people think you have finally gone off the deep end.

The one I have is the corded version, which you can get here. That one comes with different connections for specific cell phones. It’s a great move to walk into a room while actually having a conversation on this thing. People will look a little weird at you at first, then give a courtesy laugh, thinking you are just using a toy a little too convincingly. Then comes the fun part. Tell whoever you’re talking to to hold on, then hand the handset to the unsuspecting observer. Chances are they’ll at least try to make you feel good by going along with it, then when they hear someone respond to them, sit back and enjoy the shock in their eyes.

I don’t have a Bluetooth cell phone, but I can imagine it’s even more shocking when there is no chord attached. I think this is a great gift idea for that special someone who feels they must always have that earpiece clinging to the side of their head, whether they’re using it or not.

Kick it old school here.
