Table Topics

Table TopicsDo you ever find yourself with other people who have brilliant minds, but nothing to say? I think we’ve all been there. Here’s the solution to end the silence…if silence isn’t your thing.

Table Topics are little boxes full of conversation starters. I used my super human power of vision to read what that card in the picture says, which is “Who do you think is the most important person alive today?” Some other examples given on the product’s page are “If you got a tattoo, what kind would you get and where would you put it?” and “Is intelligence or common sense more important?”

Each box has 160 unique topics for great conversation. If 160 aren’t enough for you, how about 1,120? There are 7 different themed Table Topics available. They are Original (adults), Family, Teen, Girls Night Out, Couples, Book Club, and Spirit. Speechless? Well then, go get some conversation starters!

Maritime Prism from National Geographic Store

Maritime Prism from National Geographic StoreHere’s another one of those things that just looks cool. It’s a big glass prism. The description on the site is not only informative, but educational as well. I’ve learned now that before electricity, ships relied on kerosene lamps and candles for light. Of course, fire housed beneath the deck isn’t always a good idea. Enter the prism. These puppies threw light all around the underside of the deck, taking advantage of the sun’s rays.

So benefit #1 is right there, it’s a great conversation piece. Benefit #2 is the fact that it’s totally awesome! Just look at it. It’s 4″ wide and 5″ tall. It makes me think of Emerald City in Oz. Yeah? I think so.

Bring in the green light here.

Remote Control Mexican Redknee Tarantula

Remote Control Mexican Redknee TarantulaMan this thing gives me the creeps just looking at it. I can’t imagine what I’d do if I unexpectedly saw it crawling or, as the website describes its movement, scurrying directly toward me.

Remote control vehicles are always fun, and usually creepy isn’t a good word to describe them. But now there’s a big old remote control arachnid. The thing is 6.5″ in diameter, 2″ tall, and weighs a full pound! My sister does this thing where she crawls her hand on you and says “Heavy bug.” If you are in the right state of mind when she does it, it’s pretty wrong feeling. This heavy bug is close enough to the real deal to really scare the snot out of somebody.

Of course, that’s the sole purpose I see this serving, is completely scaring people out of their minds. Put it on sleeping bags, bed sheets, really anywhere on people when they’re in a vulnerable position for the most fun!

Put a heavy bug on someone here.

Hand Hook

Hand HookNow here is a weird one indeed. These guys are called hand hooks. Some are hookish in nature, all are very handish. There are five styles of hands to choose from, and I love the names. They are called C’mere, Grab, Offer, Bestow, and Om. Bestow and Om have pictures in the More Photos link over on the product page. Om is like an orchestra conductor’s hand; wand and all. Bestow costs a bit more because it comes with a candle stick and a flower vase.

These are apparently casts of the hands of the fellow who designed these products. The site gives great use suggestions like soap container and coat hanger. I’ll take the freedom to suggest a few more. Offer could be used for high-fiving practice. Om looks like it would be great for kids to use for sibling torment. C’mere could be used to scratch behind the ear. Another use for Offer could be a good solid facial slap.

Lumen Oil Lamp

Lumen Oil LampEarlier I posted a gift idea that will bring the night sky inside. Here is another one that allows something from the outside world to come inside the house. A tree…kind of.

The Lumen Oil Lamp is just what it says it is, an oil lamp. What makes this one special is that it comes with a stainless steel tree shape as part of the lamp. What effect this creates, as you can see in that there picture, is the silhouette of a tree projected onto the a wall of a house. Of course, it could be projected onto anything else you choose, but I suppose the wall would get it to show up the clearest.

There are four different tree silhouettes to choose from: pine, cedar, magnolia, or one with birds in their nests. I think the pictures kind of make it look creepy. Maybe it’s just me, but it looks like a background out of some bizarre horror flick. Maybe if it’s accompanied by soothing music it will be more relaxing than scary.

Here Hook by Richard Shed

Here Hook by Richard ShedYou’re outside in the cold, knocking on your friends’ door. They let you in, ahhh, that warmth feels nice. So you remove your coat. Now where to put it? If only it were as easy as looking around on the walls and seeing a big red arrow to show the way. Well, now that dream can become a reality!

Imagine a pair or threesome of arrows pointing to the wall, just being there on the wall. The arrows are designed in a way to where no hanging apparatus is visible. They are available in red, charcoal, and white. The angle of the Here Hook (which is very aptly named) is less than 90 degrees, so a hung coat will remain hung, instead of on the floor. Each comes with the necessary hanging hardware.

Hang that stuff right here.

Magz Construction Sets

Now these things really caught my eye. Is there anybody out there who doesn’t love a good magnetic toy? For some reason, magnets are one of the most intriguing things for me to fidget with.

Now the write up on the site is somewhat confusing, but as I read through it, I kept wanting more and more! It starts out with a 56 piece set that has 36 rods and 20 balls. You may think that would be plenty, but no. Next is the 130 piece set for only a few bucks more, which is a killer deal. But wait, it gets better.

Next they throw the faceted Cuballs at you. What are those you ask? They are balls with six flat sides, so kind of a cube-ball combo, hence the clever name. Those allow you to build the cube shaped structures that are shown in the picture. So obviously, you have to get those. But hold on. Next comes the introduction of the Super Magz. They are bigger, stronger, and have even stronger magnetism, which they say allows you to build even better structures. Well that’s a no brainer, bigger and stronger is always better, right? Next is the sweet spot as I see it. The 247 piece set. It has 112 rods, 75 balls, and 60 cuballs. I think that’s the ticket right there. But wait, that doesn’t come with those cool X-shaped pieces. Blast it all!

So next is the Magz-X collection that comes with those pieces, but only 25 of them with 28 rods and 53 balls. So finally, there is the 280 piece set. It has the 70 X pieces, 70 bars, and 140 balls. I’m not sure if those come with the cuballs though. If you’re confused like me, they also provide an option to get all the packages in one order. With the Magz Super Special, you get the 247 piece set and the 280 piece set plus a wooden storage box! Well that one seems to be the easiest option, but it’s also the most expensive.

Don’t worry about all this. The website has a phone number and a contact email address to use to find out just what you’re ordering. All I do know is that whoever gets these for a gift will have a lot of magnetic fun times.

Inside Out Ball and Spiky Glove

I usually just have one picture per post, I kind of think it looks good that way. This particular item deserves three full sized pictures. It’s just so awesome. It’s actually a line of squishy spiked things. They are balls that can be turned inside out. One way has the spikes on the inside, the other way has them on the outside. There are also some big squishy eyeball things as well as spiky gloves. It’s almost too much fun.

Here we have one that looks like I may look here in a few years, I love it!

And finally, here you can see a wide assortment of all available squishy things. There are varieties of colors and styles to choose from. I love how that one kid has the thing stretched out over his entire bike helmet!

These are just so awesome. I love the squishy things and so do most kids.

Savin Up for Jesus Tin Bank by BlueQ

Savin Up for Jesus Tin BankI don’t know if it’s just me, but I think most of us have a whole bunch of change sitting somewhere. I’ve got some in a couple Styrofoam bowls and in the console in my truck. Mostly, it doesn’t get used until I decide to go cash it in for whatever amount it’s worth. So hey, why not have a tin for all that stuff? And better yet, why not have a tin with a good cause, like savin’ up for Jesus!

The simplicity of this tin is wonderful. It’s 3½” wide by 4½” tall, so it can hold plenty of coins without being too cumbersome. I love the little additional text in front of the good reverend, who happens to have one of the nicest cared-for afros I’ve ever seen. “Give yourself a faith lift.” Punny!

Fluffy Acrylic Laptop Sleeve by Foofbag

Fluffy Acrylic Laptop Sleeve by FoofbagSleek and weird all at once. The fluffy acrylic laptop sleeve is a pretty weird looking piece of handiwork. This is another wysiwyg (that’s a web designer acronym for what-you-see-is-what-you-get) product. But what you don’t see is the good feeling the owner of this sleeve will get deep down inside when their arm gets a nice tingly massage from all the small tentacles protruding from their laptop cover.

Possibly the best part about these are the names of the three color options. They are as follows:

Choose from Purple People Eater (purple fabric with black tufts), Inverted Urchin (blue fabric with pink tufts) or Flaming Madness (red fabric with yellow tufts).

I love it. The Inverted Urchin is really unbeatable. I think it’s my least favorite of the three color options, but the name is just so good. I’d probably get the Purple People Eater and tell people it’s called the Inverted Urchin. Reminds me of my last trip to a tide pool. Neato!
